State Police: Carlisle Man Arrested For Fatal Overdose Of Shippensburg Student

After 10 months police have made an arrest in connection to a fatal overdose of a Shippensburg University student.

Angel Rodriguez Leon, 21, of Carlisle, was arrested on Saturday after a police investigation linked him to the crime via social media posts stating that he had delivered fentanyl to the student.

The student was living in off-campus housing at the time. His identity has not been made public.

At the time of the overdose, pills were found at the scene and testing  determine the pills were fentanyl.

Rodriguez Leon has a criminal record including a violent domestic assault, drug possession, and a hit -and-run where he was “driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana to the point he was incapable of safe driving,” in the 100 block of West North Street in 2019, according to Carlisle police.

For this fatal overdose he has been charged with the following:

  • F Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to
  • Manufacture or Deliver
  • F1 Drug Delivery Resulting In Death
  • F3 Criminal Use Of Communication Facility
  • M1 Involuntary Manslaughter

He also has charges for an assault on Aug. 17 including the following:

  • M2 Simple Assault
  • S Harassment - Subject Other to Physical Contact
  • S Disorder Conduct Hazardous/Physical Offense
  • S Suspended License

Rodriguez-Leon has been released from the Cumberland County prison on $100,000 in bail.

His preliminary hearing for a recent assault and the fatal overdose have been scheduled for Sept. 13 at 1:45 p.m.
